Xeranthemum flowers symbolize immortality and eternity. They are part of the sunflower family. The common name for one kind of xeranthemum is imortelle or everlasting–you get the theme. The flowers are often used in dried flower arrangements because they last a long time.
I don’t really have anything else to say about these flowers as I don’t have a strong relationship with them. But I didn’t find many flowers that start with “X” and at least I’d heard of this one.
I’ve had a long tiring week, and so I’m going to finish this and head off to bed. Tomorrow I have an all day SCBWI (society of children’s book writers and illustrators) conference–looking forward to that. And I’ll be back tomorrow, probably still tired, with another flower.
