My friend, Shirlee Hoffman just published this book on CreateSpace. I did the cover art–using pen and ink, watercolor, pencil and Sketchbook Pro–which I learned how to use much better through this process. I’m pleased with how the cover came out, but even more, I am honored to play a small (but visible) part in the publication of this powerful, intimate book.
The book is a moving exploration of her time living in Germany as a North American Jew born at the end of the Second World War–reconciling her knowledge and emotions about the Holocaust with her experiences and the friendships she found living in Germany in the 1970’s. Family history, world history and Shirlee’s personal experiences are woven together in poetry and prose.
Congratulations, Shirl!
