The left hand does know what the right hand is doing!

Or–Finger Crochet–the new Arm Knitting?

I’ve been homebound most of this week with a case of bronchitis.
I had pneumonia for the first time when I was 16.  Among other memories, I remember doing a lot of crocheting.  It definitely helped the time pass more quickly and pleasantly.  It’s been hard these past few weeks not doing any handwork, but with my broken wrist, I’ve let it go for a while.
But this week, I couldn’t stand it anymore.  I thought about arm knitting, but decided it wouldn’t work for right now.  I decided to try crocheting with my left hand a a huge hook. img_1504 That didn’t work out so well, either.  My left hand could manage the hook, but my right hand couldn’t provide the tension, since I can’t use my thumb.  But did I give up?  No way!
So, I decided to crochet with my fingers–and it works!  All I’m doing is single crochet with two strands of pencil roving, but it’s growing, albeit slowly.
Here are some photos of my WIP–In the photos, I’m doing it with my right hand because I couldn’t take the photos with it.  Thanks to both of my hands!  What would I do without you?fullsizerender-8
