I read this wonderful book this summer, Crafting Calm by Maggie Oman Shannon. She didn’t have this project in there, but I was inspired to create this wishing “tree.” It’s not a real tree, as you can see, but it is a branch hung from the ceiling of my classroom. I had lots of painted watercolor paper laying around, so I cut out some shapes and invited each of the parents to write something they wished to get out of our parent child or something they wished for their families. I gave them some crayons–and some paper for the children to draw on, too. I also let them know that it was fine if the children wanted to draw on their wishes. We then hung them up on the branch. I look at it every day, and it inspires me.
And here is one wish that I am not sure I will be able to fulfill—
