The Art of Clean Up–book review

This hilarious picture book, “The Art of Clean Up: Life Made Neat and Tidy,” by Ursus Wehrli, is more for adults than children. Wehrli is a Swiss comedian and artist, who earlier created “Tidying up Art”, where he rearranged well-known paintings in an orderly fashion. He gave a TED talk about this project in 2006. Here is an example:

But in “The Art of Clean Up,” Wehrli tidies up everyday objects, from a ball pit to a starry sky, to a bouquet of flowers to a ski slope covered with skiers–and more. My favorite is the tidied up Christmas tree.

As someone who has spent a lot of thought and time and effort to simplify my life, I really appreciate this book and the idea behind it. And it’s a good reminder that even simplifying can go too far!

This book was published in 2013 by Chronicle books, so it’s not new. But I just discovered it. And it made me laugh, so I figured it was worth sharing.
