Which do you prefer? Abundance or a bun dance?

abundance and a bun dance

Abundance now = a bun dance. Did you ever notice something and then find that you can’t un-notice it? That happened to me today. As I looked at the word abundance, I suddenly saw “a bun dance.” I googled it and found this YouTube video–so at least 5000 other people have thought the same thing.

The last Poetry Friday of the year/decade

Since this is the last Friday of 2019, I wanted to share something deep and thoughtful and inspiring to finish up the year/decade.

A bun dance of plaid

But sometimes, I get bogged down. Instead of dwelling in a universe filled with endless possibilities or trying to make the world a better place, I just feel tired and kind of burnt out. Life feels overwhelming, and I feel like I can’t inspire myself or anyone else. Then I know what I need to do–just let go, laugh a little, stop taking myself so seriously. So when I tried to think about abundance, instead I had my latest revelation about dancing buns.

Maybe I still have a touch of the flu blues. I’m feeling so much better, but still pretty low energy. Or maybe it’s because I worked 7 days a week for the past month or so (minus a few of the flu days). For whatever reason, I choose to let go and relax, to not pressure myself to come up with something deep and let my silly side shine bright.

But other people are more in an inspirational state of mind. Many thanks to my friend, talented artist and writer, Michelle Kogan, for hosting Poetry Friday this week. She shares a call to action for positive change in our earth’s climate. You can also see what other poets are thinking about at the end of the 2010s or add your voice to this wonderful, supportive group.

And in the meantime, here’s my poem for this week:

A Bun Dance

The day the buns began to dance

A bun dance! A bun dance!

All the cookies started to prance

And I decided to take a chance

To yeastify and learn to fly

I didn’t want to have to try

To struggle just to get by

Feeling crispy and deep-fried.

I decided to just let go

like those pieces of dancing dough

Let my buns wiggle to and fro–

Feel the burn and rock the glow.

Now, regardless of happenstances,

I’m giving myself second chances

Not even caring who glances

While me and my buns do happy dances.

_____

Thanks as always for stopping by.

Wishing you a new year and a new decade filled with both abundance and dancing buns.

xoxo
