Joy: a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. (Google dictionary)
It’s J-day–and I am jumping for joy!
Today is the 10th day of the A to Z blogging challenge. Here at Soul Blossom Living, J is for Joy. Sometimes, it’s difficult to be an empath. But one definite upside–we get to feel other people’s happiness as well as our own. Although I need to beware of wandering in that dangerous neighborhood known as my mind, I am by nature a joyful person, and so I will happily share some joyful thoughts.
Happy new year!-a song about joy
When I did my Waldorf teacher training, we had a wonderful singing teacher the first few summers–Fabian Lochner. Fabian brought us many wonderful songs. He had a special love for Shaker music. I still sing many of those songs that I learned almost 20 years ago. When I thought about today’s topic, though, I thought about this song, which I found a version of on YouTube. It still brings back memories of moving around in the school gym while singing with my colleagues. I hope you enjoy it, too.
Some random joyous thoughts
For me, joy and inspiration share a close relationship. Here’s a poem/list of things that bring me pleasure:
Children’s laughter, a field of flowers,
tea with a friend that lasts for hours,
morning dew and springtime showers,
lazy naps in shaded bowers.
Apple picking in the fall,
bopping someone with a beach ball,
making gnomes from soap and wool,
fairy houses, short and tall.
Making music with some friends,
summer days that never end,
silly games of let’s pretend,
colors as they whirl and blend
Heart, mind, and hands they all employ
while bringing me boatloads of joy.
