In my continuing quest to learn photoshop and my journey through the alphabet for the A to Z Challenge, I have come to hyacinth. It’s one of my favorite flower! There are some little ones blooming in my backyard right now. I love the way they are lots of flowers in one and I love their scent, colors and form (let’s see, did I miss anything) .
They symbolize sport or play, also constancy and sincerity. The name comes from a Greek myth where a Greek lad named Hyakinthos was loved by both Apollo and Zephyr, the god of the west wind. One day, when Apollo was teaching Hyakinthos to throw the discus, Zephyr, in a jealous rage, blew the discus into Hyakinthos’ head and killed him. Apollo named the hyacinth after the flower that grew from Hyakinthos’ blood.
And there you have it!
