Fifteen-year-old Beryl is a dreamer, storyteller, and lover of fairy tales who longs for adventure beyond the life she has always known. Floredelis was created as a new beginning, a place where humans might learn from the mistakes of the old world and live in greater harmony with one another and the Earth. But even in a land of magic, humanity has brought along its old wounds, fears, and hunger for power.
As darkness threatens the land she loves, Beryl's journey carries her beyond Floredelis to the realm of Brother Earth, where she befriends gnomes and fairies, undergoes an initiation in the mysterious Hill of the Grandmothers, and begins to discover that the gifts she needs aren't the powers of a traditional hero. They are the ones she has carried all along: deep listening, intuition, compassion, courage—and a golden heart.
Part coming-of-age story, part magical adventure, Beyond the Land of Dreams explores what it means to live with both darkness and light, whether we can heal the wounds we carry with us, and what kind of world we might create when we learn to listen—to ourselves, to one another, and to the living Earth.
