My flower for today is the orchid. When I went, almost 2 years ago, to Monteverde, Costa Rica, I visited the Orchid Garden there (Jardín de Orquídeas). We saw many amazing orchids there–so different from the ones they sell here in flower shops or grocery stores. This painting, for which I used photoshop’s watercolor and pencil, was inspired by this orchid which I photographed–along with many others.
We had a private tour guide who armed us with magnifying glasses and explained all about the multitudes of orchids that grow in the wild. It was beautiful and amazing.
As I go through this blog challenge, it surprises me how many happy memories I have that are associated with flowers.

Thanks for stopping by to smell the flowers (did you know some orchids smell like animal flesh?)
