The Queen of Hearts

I was in the mood for another nursery rhyme today, and who better than the Queen of Hearts?  IMG_1019

Did you know that nursery rhymes are very healthy for young children?  The rhythm and sound even more than the images nourish them.  And what fun the images are–although some are pretty strange.  I remember nursery rhymes from when I was little.  I remember liking the sounds and the humor of them.

In a society that is pretty a-rhythmical and with little ones trying to find the rhythm of life–bringing their organs into rhythm, the rhythm of night and day, then on to the cycles of the year, etc–the rhythm of nursery rhymes is a fun way to bring more rhythm into a child’s world and bring more play into the adult world.

Today is q day in the A to Z Blog Challenge!

I am a writer, handworker, artist and teacher (a WHAT!), and a mom of two beautiful daughters who are amazingly 17 and 21. I am working on getting my first book, a fantasy novel for young people, published and am busy spinning on my new spinning wheel. I have been a Waldorf early childhood teacher for 10 years now, and before that, I was a lawyer. Teaching is much more fun.
