a new scarf

I had hoped to do some spinning while I was on vacation in Maine.  I packed a couple of spindles, but I wanted to buy wool while I was there to use.  Unfortunately, I didn’t come across any wool.  There is one yarn store in Lubec, which is also a pet boutique, called Wags and Wool.  It was an adorable shop with lots of very nice handspun yarn and a friendly dog who acted as greeter.  But no wool:(  So Instead, I bought some Noro yarn on sale and a beautiful wooden crochet hook and decided to try some free form crochet and make a cowl. 100_2324

I’ve been wanting to try making some hats or scarves with my own handspun, but have been kind of chicken to do it.  I have been inspired by Girl with a Hook.  I was very happy with how my scarf came out.  It was cold in Lubec, and I told Gabi I would give her the scarf if she would let me take a picture of her wearing it.

I am a writer, handworker, artist and teacher (a WHAT!), and a mom of two beautiful daughters who are amazingly 17 and 21. I am working on getting my first book, a fantasy novel for young people, published and am busy spinning on my new spinning wheel. I have been a Waldorf early childhood teacher for 10 years now, and before that, I was a lawyer. Teaching is much more fun.
